A denture is a detachable alternative for your missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Dentures or bridges have two available types, including the following:
Complete dentures
• Dr. Ashraf will recommend either “conventional” or “immediate” dentures according to your jaw condition.
• A conventional denture can replace your removed teeth after the gum tissue has begun to heal. It is ready for replacement in your mouth about 8 to 12 weeks after your teeth removal.
• An immediate denture can replace your removed teeth as soon as your teeth removal occurs. It has the advantage that you don’t have to be without teeth during the healing process. Still, unfortunately, your bones and gums shrink over time. As a result, your dentist will usually consider immediate dentures only as a temporary solution until conventional dentures are ready to wear.
Partial dentures
• When you have one or more natural teeth intact in the upper or lower jaw, the optimal choice is either removable or fixed partial dentures or bridges.
• The removable dentures are replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base. They can hold in place in your mouth by a metal framework.
• The fixed bridge replaces one or more teeth. Your dentist will place the crowns on the teeth on both sides of the space, attach artificial teeth to them, and cement this “bridge” into space.
1. The biggest problem that faces the denture wearer is the painful and ill-fitting dentures. This discomfort problem is usually because of denture sliding inside the mouth when it isn’t fit against your gums.
2. Soreness and swelling.
3. The denture friction cause development of painful sores and calluses.
At first, you may notice anything until symptoms appear because they occur slowly. Our dentist can fix your denture if it doesn’t fit well. The repair includes relining your denture with an acrylic mold, recasting it, and entering mini implants into your jawbone to stabilize your denture.
Dental implants become the alternative to dentures by supporting the cemented bridges and eliminating the need for dentures. Suppose you are eligible for a dental implant procedure. In that case, Dr. Ashraf Adam will recommend it to you because it closely gives the function of natural teeth.
