Dental veneers are shells that are thin, tooth-colored that are made of either porcelain or composite material. Veneers are placed over the natural teeth, this thin layer of material can help protect teeth from decay and improve the look of your smile.
What are the benefits of laminates?
1-Fix discoloration.
2-Correct worn or broken teeth.
3-Improve the appearance of teeth.
4-Close gaps between teeth.
There are two types of laminates:
Composite resin.
The less expensive option. Composite resin laminates usually last between five and seven years before you need to replace them.
This type of laminates can be less intensive to apply and less traumatic to the natural teeth.
Porcelain.
Porcelain laminates are generally better at reflecting the light the way real teeth do and so have a more natural appearance and also have a longer lifespan, with most lasting between 10 and 20 years.
The density of the porcelain material makes it more resistant to stains.
Traditional dental veneers.
Applying traditional dental veneers typically involves grinding down the tooth structure, sometimes removing some parts of the teeth even past the enamel. Allowing a proper placement.
This procedure is irreversible and often requires a local anesthetic as it can be painful to go through.
No-prep veneers.
Unlike other veneers, No-prep veneers may require some tooth preparation or alteration.
But these alterations are minimal. No-prep veneers only affect the enamel(no need to remove layers of the tooth under the enamel).
In many cases, no-prep veneers don’t require using local anesthetics.
At Caring Dental, we will take X-rays at this stage to evaluate your teeth’ condition.
We will look for any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or the need for root canals. If you suffer from any of these conditions, veneers might not be suitable for you (you are not a veneer candidate).
For accurate sizing of your veneers, your dentist trims down about half a millimeter of your tooth ( using a grinding tool for enamel removal). Then, we take a mold (impression) of your teeth. This mold goes to the lab to create your veneers.
It usually takes one to two weeks after mold creation to get your veneers done.
You will need an examination of the veneers’ fit, shape, and color (before starting the procedure) to make sure they are the perfect veneers for you.
Next comes teeth cleansing, which is necessary to keep bacteria from trapping under the veneer and causing decay.
Veneers need a rough texture to stick perfectly on the teeth, so your dentist will create that rough texture surface on the teeth(using the grinding tool) and place the veneers upon them.
Then your dentist will use dental cement for veneer-teeth bonding(the dentist often uses ultraviolet light to harden the dental cement).
And by the time you leave the clinic, you will be ready to show off that smile of yours.
